Cheers and welcome to Persephone Calling, my home to explore what it means to be a modern priestess of Persephone and how that shows up and plays out in my life and community at large.
I’m Lindsay, I live just outside of Cincinnati, and I’ve been a practicing Hellenic Polytheist for more than 20 years even though my relationships with the deities (particularly Athena and Persephone) go much farther back. I also proudly wear the title of witch, but my religious practices and my witchy practices rarely intersect so I can’t guarantee you’ll find much discussion on magic(k)al practice here.
Professionally I wear a number of hats. Currently my primary income comes from bar and beverage management work. I am also an End of Life Doula, a Full Spectrum Doula specializing in the areas of abortion and pregnancy loss education and support and activism, and a tarot professional specializing in advisory-style reads and shadow work guidance. Currently the beverage management work prevents me from doing as much with the rest as I prefer to, unfortunately, but I work to find time to engage with them as I can.Â
My personal interests fall all over the map. I like to joke that I wanted to be everything when I grew up and even in my early 40s I still kinda do. In college my primary areas of study were Anthropology (with a focus on Classical Archaeology, particularly in the areas of Hellenistic Greek theatre, religion, and women’s spaces–especially where any of those overlapped–and Theatre (with a focus on directing and performance). I also spent quite a lot of time in vocal performance classes with the Vocal Music Performance majors and these days my performance bug is satisfied through singing Soprano 1 with a fantastic social justice-oriented community choir. I’ve also been practicing yoga since college and am finally working towards my longtime goal of YTT certification this year.
My current plan is for this site to be for my personal exploration and community benefit. I’m not looking to build any businesses with my work here, just offerings for those called to partake, though much will overlap with work I do on a professional level–and I’m always open to take on new clients in those areas as I’m available and able, so please don’t hesitate to reach out and we can chat. If you feel pulled to offer an energy exchange for any of the work and offerings I share here that resonate you can find me on Venmo (@alcoholalchemy), CashApp ($WanderingChildLL), or PayPal (paypal.me/lindsayjohanna).Â
